Meetings 16 March 2008
From 4freedom
Seventh meeting, Sunday, the 16th of March:
[14:01] Catharina Jacobus: Hi, let's start..
[14:01] Catharina Jacobus: it is time
[14:01] Catharina Jacobus: First of all welcome...
[14:01] Catharina Jacobus: I think it might be a good idea to have a chairman or woman for this meetings
[14:02] Catharina Jacobus: that can keep order...
[14:02] user123 Handrick: Hi Grunt
[14:02] Grunt Ultsch: hi user
[14:02] Grunt Ultsch: Dont we have a chairwoman yet?
[14:02] Catharina Jacobus: And I think it would be a nice job for Grunt
[14:02] Grunt Ultsch: me??
[14:02] Toga Yorkshire: Cath, I think you just volunteered. ;-)
[14:03] Catharina Jacobus: I can do it but I rather have Grunt do it
[14:03] Grunt Ultsch: Comes as a complete surprise to me, I thought you do a wonderful job yourself
[14:04] Grunt Ultsch: I am willing to try it
[14:04] Grunt Ultsch: But today I am not prepared for it
[14:04] Toga Yorkshire: Ok, that's settled.
[14:04] Catharina Jacobus: Ok, I'll do it today and then maybe we can rotate between us or so
[14:05] Grunt Ultsch: Is it because I sit on the head of the table?
[14:05] Catharina Jacobus: We need a hammer...
[14:05] Alexise Stransky: create it now?
[14:05] Alexise Stransky: =)
[14:05] Grunt Ultsch: I dont have a hammer but I do have an axe
[14:05] Alexise Stransky: :-D
[14:05] Catharina Jacobus: Anyway, glad to see it is busy...
[14:05] Catharina Jacobus: an axe is maybe a bit overdone Grunt
[14:05] Wolfear Clawtooth: you mean a gavel?
[14:05] Catharina Jacobus: Maybe I mean a gavel
[14:05] Catharina Jacobus: We call it a hammer..
[14:06] Wolfear Clawtooth: ah
[14:06] Catharina Jacobus: Anyway, let's move on...
[14:06] Catharina Jacobus: The action list of last meeting is on the wiki
[14:06] Grunt Ultsch: Wouldnt I look like a brute if I would hold a hammer during meetings?
[14:06] Catharina Jacobus: http://4freedom.a.wiki-site.com/index.php/Actions
[14:07] Catharina Jacobus: And we have to discuss the FSF joining us
[14:07] Melch Savon: Starting now. Accept TP when you want it
[14:07] Catharina Jacobus: I think it is a very good thing for 4Freedom that they want us to represent them
[14:08] Catharina Jacobus: but also a lot of work to do :-)
[14:08] Catharina Jacobus: They have asked us to compile a list of what we can do
[14:08] Catharina Jacobus: Did all see what I put on the Wiki on that so far?
[14:08] Grunt Ultsch: Is it the list you put on the wiki today?
[14:08] Catharina Jacobus: Hi David
[14:08] Alexise Stransky: hi David
[14:09] Catharina Jacobus: haha
[14:09] davidmorgan Aeon: hi all
[14:09] Alexise Stransky: AHahahhahh
[14:09] user123 Handrick: funny
[14:09] Rover Smit: hey David
[14:09] Catharina Jacobus: yes
[14:09] Melch Savon raises his beer to David
[14:09] Wolfear Clawtooth: i haven't..i' will have to check leter as opening a browser while running SL is a strain on my system
[14:09] Grunt Ultsch: Are you allright, David?
[14:10] Melch Savon: David - you may want to stop all in-world animations
[14:10] user123 Handrick: it's funny about me ))
[14:10] Alexise Stransky: f*k
[14:10] davidmorgan Aeon: hi Alexis
[14:11] Catharina Jacobus: David, this is a conference room, not a ball room
[14:11] davidmorgan Aeon: may the farce be with you
[14:11] Rover Smit: ok, now about FSF representation!
[14:11] Alexise Stransky: Hiya cCrazyman
[14:11] user123 Handrick: stop david
[14:11] davidmorgan Aeon: hehe
[14:11] davidmorgan Aeon: sorry
[14:11] Rover Smit: have u got some ideas?
[14:11] Grunt Ultsch: Are you epeleptic?
[14:11] user123 Handrick: tools/stop all animation
[14:11] Rover Smit: about what to built, etc for FSF
[14:12] Wolfear Clawtooth: i think joining forces with the FSF is a good step.
[14:12] Catharina Jacobus: I put some ideas on the Wiki but I would like to hear ideas of everyone
[14:12] Alexise Stransky: hmmm
[14:12] Alexise Stransky: i don't have any for now
[14:12] davidmorgan Aeon: any better
[14:13] Catharina Jacobus: maybe ideas on how the place should look?
[14:13] Wolfear Clawtooth: what are the parameters, i.e- how much input will they be exercising?
[14:13] Alexise Stransky: we need to call a doctor
[14:13] Grunt Ultsch: I think we should look more at the wiki and add our ideas there
[14:13] Catharina Jacobus: David, if stop animations does not work, you have to go back to where you came from and then stop the animation there by clicking on what started it..
[14:13] Toga Yorkshire: Doesn't the land thing need to be taken care of?
[14:13] Grunt Ultsch: I think the wiki could be more alive
[14:14] Toga Yorkshire: Any word from Trade?
[14:14] Catharina Jacobus: Trade will have the new island by the end of april
[14:14] davidmorgan Aeon: ok hows that
[14:14] Catharina Jacobus: In the meantime we freed up some space that we can use for now
[14:14] Wolfear Clawtooth: I'm perfectly willing to devote some time on the Wiki if we have a "Todo" so I know what areas to work on
[14:14] Grunt Ultsch: David, our chairwoman asked you to leave
[14:14] davidmorgan Aeon: cool
[14:15] Catharina Jacobus: hmmm and come back when stopped dancing..
[14:15] davidmorgan Aeon: ok im going
[14:15] Alexise Stransky: blabl
[14:15] Alexise Stransky: no need
[14:15] Catharina Jacobus: hmmm a male stripper
[14:15] Grunt Ultsch: Can someone kick the idiot out?
[14:15] Alexise Stransky: ahahahahaaha
[14:15] Rover Smit: done
[14:15] Catharina Jacobus: Well there is a list on the wiki Wolfie for the FSF
[14:15] Gennady Markstein: thanks Alex
[14:15] Alexise Stransky: just made the floor phantom)
[14:16] Catharina Jacobus: http://4freedom.a.wiki-site.com/index.php/FSF
[14:16] Wolfear Clawtooth: Cath: ok. I'll check ofet ther meeting. I can't open browser while running SL
[14:16] Catharina Jacobus: Everyone is welcome to work that out a bit more and add ideas
[14:16] Catharina Jacobus: Also I think the place has to be lively and not a boring information only place
[14:17] Catharina Jacobus: We have to put some fun in it
[14:17] Grunt Ultsch: Yes, every member has a page for himself on which he can introduce himself for example
[14:17] Alexise Stransky: if you give me about 1-1.5k prims..... :)
[14:17] Rover Smit: ok, what size will it be?
[14:17] Rover Smit: i mean how big
[14:18] Catharina Jacobus: hmm size won't be a problem as we get the new land
[14:18] Catharina Jacobus: to start with, we are a bit limmited
[14:18] Catharina Jacobus: I don't know exactly how much
[14:18] Wolfear Clawtooth: Grunt: I saw the member page when I registerd, but didn't know if those were for our "officers" so to speak or in general.
[14:18] Rover Smit: and when will we get new island?
[14:18] Catharina Jacobus: No, we are all officers :-)
[14:18] Catharina Jacobus: end of april
[14:18] Catharina Jacobus: if all goes well...
[14:18] Rover Smit: ok
[14:18] Tavia Nadezda is Offline
[14:19] Rover Smit: i see
[14:19] Catharina Jacobus: But we can start small and then grow
[14:19] Grunt Ultsch: Cant help you, wolfera, I know nothing about officers
[14:19] Rover Smit: so, what kind of bulding u want to see?
[14:19] Wolfear Clawtooth: i may have over looked it, but do we have a donation box specifically for group expenses?
[14:19] Rover Smit: i mean a skypescraper or just open platfor?
[14:19] Grunt Ultsch: A building which is free to copy/mod/trans in the first place
[14:19] Rover Smit: *platform
[14:20] Catharina Jacobus: No, we do not yet have a donation box
[14:20] Alexise Stransky: it's not a problem
[14:20] Catharina Jacobus: I think the place needs to be as open as possible
[14:20] Catharina Jacobus: But have no real vision of it yet
[14:20] Catharina Jacobus: anyone?
[14:21] Catharina Jacobus: it could even be a theme park or so
[14:21] Grunt Ultsch: I'd love a gnew-shaped building
[14:21] Catharina Jacobus: with some buildings and fun stuff
[14:21] Rover Smit: well, a big platform with some stuff, Exhibition, etc
[14:21] Rover Smit: with videos
[14:22] Wolfear Clawtooth: i think getting a full mission statement would be a great step forward. There is a general type on the wiki, but one spelling out exactly what the group's goal are and how we would like to acomplish them would be good.
[14:22] Catharina Jacobus: videos would be nice, but I think still problems with ogg format
[14:22] Catharina Jacobus: Yes, that is a good point Wolf
[14:23] Catharina Jacobus: Would you give that a try?
[14:23] Grunt Ultsch: We all can put our expectations and goals on the wiki
[14:23] Wolfear Clawtooth: i can give it a go. If I set up a member page on the wiki, could we use that for feed back on creating a msission statement?
[14:23] Catharina Jacobus: Yes, good idea
[14:24] Grunt Ultsch: You'll get a personal page and also a page named wolfear/talk on which you can put your ideas and on which everyone can respond
[14:24] Toga Yorkshire: Is there a way for group members to be auto mailed the wiki updates?
[14:25] Grunt Ultsch: not as far as I know of, Toga
[14:25] Wolfear Clawtooth: ok. I'm registered, but didn't quite know what to do next. So i will work on getting that set up for feedback
[14:25] Catharina Jacobus: No, I don't think so
[14:25] Catharina Jacobus: Can anyone sent groupnotes now on our group or only me?
[14:26] Wolfear Clawtooth: no idea Cath
[14:26] Melch Savon: Actually I was wondering if there is some API so I can tag relevant posts on my blog as '4Freedom' and have them auto added to my 4Freedom wiki page.
[14:26] Wolfear Clawtooth: i haven't checked...does the blog have RSS?
[14:27] Wolfear Clawtooth: oops..i meant the wiki
[14:27] Catharina Jacobus: Well I think not but we are building a new website in Drupal now
[14:27] Grunt Ultsch: hi ronnie
[14:27] Catharina Jacobus: So maybe then it is possible
[14:27] Ronnie Fargis: hey all
[14:27] Catharina Jacobus: Hey Ronnie
[14:27] Alexise Stransky: Hi Ronnie
[14:27] Gennady Markstein: Hi Ron
[14:27] Catharina Jacobus: Drupal is very community orientated
[14:27] Ronnie Fargis: a, i see i was here all the time gg
[14:27] Catharina Jacobus: huh?
[14:28] Ronnie Fargis: behind the bar
[14:28] Alexise Stransky: ahahahaha)
[14:28] Catharina Jacobus: oh haha, yes you are always at work here
[14:28] Ronnie Fargis: back on topic, drupal...
[14:28] Grunt Ultsch: his hair is different
[14:28] Catharina Jacobus: Well it takes us a while because never worked with drupal before
[14:29] Ronnie Fargis: im learning drupal now for an school project..
[14:29] Catharina Jacobus: and my bf has to do all the tech stuff and is busy with other stuff too
[14:29] Catharina Jacobus: oh that is nice
[14:29] Catharina Jacobus: do you like it?
[14:29] Wolfear Clawtooth: same here. I could do a local Drupal install to test out working with themes, but cannot promise much.
[14:29] Ronnie Fargis: just started the project... but its really easy to work wth...
[14:29] Alexise Stransky: hmmm school project?
[14:30] Catharina Jacobus: It is nice to have some more people into drupal
[14:30] Ronnie Fargis: yes making a website for students to show their results
[14:31] Alexise Stransky: aahh i am woking on such IS now
[14:31] Alexise Stransky: woking*
[14:31] Alexise Stransky: working*
[14:31] Alexise Stransky: blablabla
[14:31] salacia Gustafson is Offline
[14:31] Wolfear Clawtooth: i have never worked with drupal. I'm more the PHP-nuke type, but willingto learn it.
[14:32] Catharina Jacobus: ok, i will check with boyfriend but it is always good to have some more people availble for the tech site of it
[14:33] Ronnie Fargis: if drupal is installed, you can add user and give them rights to change stuff on the server...
[14:33] Ronnie Fargis: if someone can setup a server...
[14:33] Catharina Jacobus: Yes
[14:34] Wolfear Clawtooth: server setup is easy. If need be, I'll check and see if my reseller account allows drupal and could donate some web hosting.
[14:34] Catharina Jacobus: no, we already got webhosting and the domain name
[14:34] Wolfear Clawtooth: k..option is there, just in case.
[14:35] Grunt Ultsch: cool
[14:35] Catharina Jacobus: yes, thnx
[14:35] Alexise Stransky: anybody have skype?
[14:35] Grunt Ultsch: I don't
[14:35] Ronnie Fargis: i have, why?
[14:35] Wolfear Clawtooth: Alex..not presently. I may install it later this week if Kopete doesn't work me.
[14:36] Alexise Stransky: we're using it for realtime discussing of our actions with rover and genn
[14:37] Alexise Stransky: maybe there is free analog?
[14:37] Catharina Jacobus: ok, move on with the action list of last week?
[14:37] Alexise Stransky: yepp
[14:37] Wolfear Clawtooth: k..whats next?
[14:38] Catharina Jacobus: First on the list is some research to if this building can be moved
[14:38] Alexise Stransky: it's very very very hard
[14:38] Alexise Stransky: because of multiple owners and colossal size
[14:39] Ronnie Fargis: cant it all be selected at once?
[14:39] Grunt Ultsch: Why does it have to be moved?
[14:39] Alexise Stransky: nope
[14:39] Alexise Stransky: i tried
[14:39] Catharina Jacobus: Well the land under here does not have many prims left
[14:39] Rover Smit: and the whole idea of this place will be terminated if we move this
[14:39] Catharina Jacobus: And if we move in april, the land under here might not be 4freedom's
[14:39] Rover Smit: o_O
[14:39] Alexise Stransky: hmmm this is a prob
[14:40] Grunt Ultsch: Any new land would have the same problems, wouldn't it?
[14:40] Grunt Ultsch: oh, I see
[14:40] Ronnie Fargis: and if everyone set his own stuff to anyone move or group owned,...
[14:40] Ronnie Fargis: it should be possible3
[14:40] Wolfear Clawtooth: will the new area encounter the same issues with prim count?
[14:40] Catharina Jacobus: yes
[14:40] Catharina Jacobus: an island has just a certain amount of prims
[14:41] Alexise Stransky: 15000 per island
[14:41] Catharina Jacobus: that have to be divided between all the land owners or renters
[14:41] Toga Yorkshire: Can prim count be increased with donations?
[14:41] Catharina Jacobus: We could rent more land then and more land is more prims
[14:41] Alexise Stransky: i am testing my buildings on a private OpenSim
[14:42] Ronnie Fargis: alexise, what about each person gives the full perms to edit his object to someone, so one person can move the whole building?
[14:42] Grunt Ultsch: Is it not possible to increase the number of prims on an island, without increasing the island?
[14:42] Catharina Jacobus: no
[14:42] Alexise Stransky: there is a problem
[14:42] Alexise Stransky: because sl client cant move so much prims at once
[14:43] Alexise Stransky: only by parts
[14:43] Catharina Jacobus: cut it in pieces
[14:43] Ronnie Fargis: whats the maximum
[14:43] Alexise Stransky: 30 m
[14:43] Alexise Stransky: 30x30x30
[14:43] Catharina Jacobus: how bis is this?
[14:43] Rover Smit: will be very much pieces
[14:43] Alexise Stransky: here is over 200meters
[14:44] Alexise Stransky: 100 meters here
[14:44] Toga Yorkshire: Too bad you can't zip it ;-)
[14:44] Alexise Stransky: i am wrong
[14:44] Alexise Stransky: sami just fly in the side window
[14:44] Catharina Jacobus: legs through the ceiling again
[14:44] Alexise Stransky: side!
[14:44] Alexise Stransky: not rear!!
[14:44] Alexise Stransky: =))
[14:45] Alexise Stransky: and not front)))
[14:45] Catharina Jacobus: so it should be divided into 4 pieces?
[14:45] Alexise Stransky: you're forgot a height
[14:45] Alexise Stransky: 8 or ahha
[14:45] Wolfear Clawtooth: is each level independant or are they all linked?
[14:45] Alexise Stransky: just pass thru window
[14:46] Alexise Stransky: nope
[14:46] Alexise Stransky: i cant link this
[14:46] Alexise Stransky: =))
[14:46] Samira Kirax: hi everyone
[14:46] Rover Smit: hey Samira
[14:46] Gennady Markstein: hi samira
[14:46] Catharina Jacobus: Well there is still time, but it has to be looked into more
[14:46] Ronnie Fargis: Hey!
[14:46] Wolfear Clawtooth: i'm not very good builder, so apologize if some questions seem silly
[14:46] Catharina Jacobus: Maybe Ronnie or Trade can help with it..
[14:46] Catharina Jacobus: Hi Samira
[14:47] Ronnie Fargis: why you cant link?
[14:47] Alexise Stransky: because of 30x30x30 m link limit
[14:47] Alexise Stransky: you cant link prims if it's size extends this limit
[14:47] Alexise Stransky: i tried
[14:48] Wolfear Clawtooth: can this be resalce down to meetthe limit, moved, then scaled back up?
[14:48] Grunt Ultsch: So it has to be done in parts, is that a problem?
[14:48] Alexise Stransky: nope
[14:48] Ronnie Fargis: nope scaling a big building isnt possible
[14:48] Wolfear Clawtooth: k.
[14:48] Alexise Stransky: ...because of limit
[14:48] Alexise Stransky: we can move it by parts
[14:48] Alexise Stransky: but there is damn problem with aligning
[14:49] Alexise Stransky: wery much work
[14:49] Grunt Ultsch: ok then, when the time comes we will move it in parts
[14:49] Ronnie Fargis: there is an script around...
[14:49] Ronnie Fargis: specially for big buildings...
[14:49] Catharina Jacobus: great
[14:49] Alexise Stransky: hmmm
[14:49] Ronnie Fargis: you have one main prim, the others will follow...
[14:49] Grunt Ultsch: Yes, the aligning is a whole lot of frustrating work, I know
[14:49] Wolfear Clawtooth: when I was building cabinetand needed to move large units, I placed lines on all verticals to allow for re-position after move. That might help aligning
[14:49] Ronnie Fargis: but each object need an own script
[14:50] Catharina Jacobus: ow
[14:50] Alexise Stransky: when i am fixing some bugs here i am fed up with aligning ))
[14:50] Wolfear Clawtooth: oh..i see what you mean now.
[14:50] Catharina Jacobus: Well there is still time, but we need to be prepared for it
[14:50] Alexise Stransky: because i must move all of conference centre
[14:51] Alexise Stransky: about a 0.5 metres up...
[14:51] Alexise Stransky: but it tooks about a half hour
[14:51] Catharina Jacobus: Ok, but because of time let's move on with the list now
[14:51] Alexise Stransky: ok
[14:51] Catharina Jacobus: next was an elevator or a teleporter..
[14:51] Catharina Jacobus: And we got that!
[14:51] Grunt Ultsch: Yes, thanx to Kevin
[14:51] Alexise Stransky: and i am want to move it over clouds)
[14:52] Catharina Jacobus: Kevin build a long disctance teleporter
[14:52] Alexise Stransky: i will rebuild it
[14:52] Alexise Stransky: such a ugly and slow thing
[14:52] Catharina Jacobus: Unfortunately he does not have time anymore to be here
[14:52] Grunt Ultsch: He only made the scripts, the teleporter still has to be built
[14:52] Catharina Jacobus: until december...
[14:52] Catharina Jacobus: Who built that then?
[14:53] Alexise Stransky: sami do you have nice one-prim chairs made of sculpted prim?
[14:53] Alexise Stransky: i will
[14:53] Grunt Ultsch: He only made some prims, you cant call that a teleporter yet
[14:53] Catharina Jacobus: Yes, there is a teleporter
[14:53] Catharina Jacobus: it is even on your land
[14:53] Catharina Jacobus: It is complete
[14:53] Grunt Ultsch: I know it well
[14:53] Ronnie Fargis: but its slow..
[14:53] Samira Kirax: not now, 2 prim s minimum
[14:54] Ronnie Fargis: is the script open?
[14:54] Catharina Jacobus: hmmmm
[14:54] Alexise Stransky: yes, ronnie
[14:54] Alexise Stransky: i have it
[14:54] Grunt Ultsch: Yes, it is open, it works very well
[14:54] Ronnie Fargis: can i have a copy?
[14:54] Grunt Ultsch: sure
[14:54] Grunt Ultsch: I'll give it to you after the meeting
[14:54] Alexise Stransky: ok, i will try to make one prim sculpted chairs )
[14:54] Toga Yorkshire: I think I found the answer to e-mail notices for the wiki. Just goto your Log in > Preferences page and set the wiki changes you want to be notified of.
[14:54] Catharina Jacobus: ok, great Ronnie and Alex will make it more perfect
[14:54] Alexise Stransky: yeppe
[14:54] Samira Kirax: when I tryed to use the tp 2 days ago it didn't work...or I was to unpatient
[14:54] Catharina Jacobus: ok, thnx Toga
[14:55] Catharina Jacobus: haha
[14:55] Alexise Stransky: Ronnie are you can code particle effects?
[14:55] Alexise Stransky: can you*
[14:55] Grunt Ultsch: Will you make them with all permissions, alexise?
[14:55] Alexise Stransky: i need some
[14:55] Catharina Jacobus: Next thing is an information board with meeting time
[14:55] Alexise Stransky: yes of course
[14:55] Grunt Ultsch: I mean, copy/mod/trans
[14:55] Ronnie Fargis: never did before
[14:55] Grunt Ultsch: ok
[14:55] Alexise Stransky: i am created it already
[14:55] Catharina Jacobus: Well I made something for that today, it is on top of the teleporter but it is no trans
[14:55] Catharina Jacobus: So we need another one
[14:56] Wolfear Clawtooth: to make this subject easier, can we put to gether a wiki page of volunteers for the move and let each person listthe best contact method?..that will save some time.
[14:56] Catharina Jacobus: Or I need to ask the maker of it, because it was on the marketplace for free copy, mod and trans
[14:56] Catharina Jacobus: I think we are all talking different subjects now
[14:57] Grunt Ultsch: Yes, we moved to teleporters now
[14:57] Alexise Stransky: done)
[14:57] Catharina Jacobus: And because I am the chair woman of the day, I would like to stick to the action list..
[14:58] Catharina Jacobus: if you don't mind...
[14:58] Catharina Jacobus: Next on the list is that user suggested to have another time in week to prepare the next meeting..
[14:58] Grunt Ultsch: Anyway the teleporter problem is solved, I think the teleporter works wonderful. Only it should look much better. Anyone is free to make their own chair and doors. Actually it consists of 4 parts
[14:58] Catharina Jacobus: We got two minutes left..
[14:59] Catharina Jacobus: Is it a good idea to meet with some people during the week to preparte the meeting?
[14:59] Catharina Jacobus: Who is in favour?
[14:59] Alexise Stransky: i am thinking about one prim chairs now
[14:59] Alexise Stransky: the doors is nice i think

[14:59] user123 Handrick: i though a infornal meeting

[15:00] Catharina Jacobus: Yes, I think so too
